Spine Reform Coaching: Building a Stronger, More Resilient Spine

“If we begin to get in touch with whatever we feel with kindness, our protective shells will melt, and we'll find that more areas of our lives are workable.”

— Pema Chödrön

What Is Spine Reform Coaching?

Our spines are designed to move. They bend, extend, rotate, and support us through almost everything we do, from getting out of bed in the morning to walking, lifting, exercising, and simply sitting comfortably.

As we get older, however, we may begin to move less, avoid certain movements, or become more cautious about what our backs can and cannot do. Over time, we can lose strength, mobility, and confidence in movement.

Spine Reform Coaching is a movement-based approach designed to help you build a stronger, more mobile, and resilient spine through simple, intentional practices.

Rather than focusing on complicated poses or intense workouts, the program brings together several important elements of spinal health: strength and stability, flexibility and mobility, balance, breath, body awareness, and mindfulness. The exercises are practical and adaptable, with an emphasis on understanding how your body moves and developing habits that can support you in everyday life.

Mindfulness is woven throughout the practice. We pay attention to the breath, notice sensations, and observe how the body responds to different movements. Instead of simply going through the motions, we practice being present and curious about what we feel. This awareness can help us recognize our habits and make more intentional choices about how we move.

One of the things I appreciate most about this approach is that it is not simply a sequence of exercises to follow. It is a coaching process. We look at how you currently move, notice areas of strength as well as places where movement may feel limited, and use progressive practices to explore what helps you move with greater confidence and ease.

The goal is not to create a “perfect” spine. It is to help you develop the strength, mobility, awareness, and confidence to keep moving well over time.

How Does the Program Work?

We begin with a one on one Spine Assessment to look at how your spine moves and establish a starting point for the program.

Then, we meet once a week for four weeks in a small-group setting. Each week, we work together on a carefully structured sequence designed to develop strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, and greater awareness of how you move.

Between our weekly sessions, you’ll continue practicing at home with a short follow-along video. This gives you the opportunity to become familiar with the movements, build consistency, and notice changes from week to week. The home practice is also an opportunity to slow down, pay attention, and bring mindfulness into the way you move.

At the end of the four weeks, we repeat the Spine Assessment. This gives us an opportunity to compare where you started with where you are now, recognize changes in your movement, and identify areas you may want to continue working on.

The combination of assessment, weekly coaching, guided home practice, mindfulness, and a final reassessment makes this more than a four week class. It’s a process of learning about your own spine and developing practical tools you can continue using long after the program ends.

Moving Forward With Confidence

One of the most valuable things we can develop as we age is confidence in our ability to move. We don’t need to move perfectly, and we don’t need to do everything we did when we were younger. But we do need to keep moving.

My hope with Spine Reform Coaching is that you finish the four weeks not only feeling stronger and more mobile, but also more aware of how you move, more connected to your body, and more confident about what it can do.

Your spine is made to move. Let’s help it keep moving well.
