Letting Go of Perfect: A New Perspective on Perfectionism

For a long time, perfectionism felt like an invisible force pulling me in every direction. No matter how hard I worked or how much effort I poured into something, it never felt good enough. Every task carried an unbearable weight—the fear of making a mistake, of falling short, of being judged. Instead of motivating me in a healthy way, perfectionism drove me to meet deadlines and deliver results at a steep cost. My nervous system was in a constant state of overdrive, and my physical health suffered under the pressure I placed on myself. Behind every completed project was exhaustion, tension, and a sense that I had barely survived the process rather than feeling proud of what I had accomplished.
I’m sharing this today because the video I’m about to post is far from perfect—but I’m sharing it anyway! It’s taken me months to finish editing a single video in a reasonable time and just hit publish. Every little thing became a reason to stall: the sound wasn’t right, the lighting felt off, my filler words annoyed me, and I fixated on every tiny mistake in my vocabulary. There was always something keeping me from feeling ready.
But today, in this fresh New Year spirit, I’m saying “enough is enough!” I’m letting go of the need for it to be flawless, and I’m allowing myself to show up—imperfectly, yet authentically.
Thank you for being patient with me, for supporting me, and most importantly, for accepting me just as I am. Here’s to embracing progress over perfection and showing up, even when it feels a little rough around the edges. Let’s do this!
